Tenure-track professorships

The introduction of the tenure track makes it possible to appoint professors who have proved their merit to a full professorship at Universität Hamburg without a call for applications and an academic search procedure. The junior professorship, however, must have been advertised as such. In order to ensure sufficient quality assurance, the junior professor is evaluated in an assessment procedure regulated by separate bylaws before the end of the second phase of the junior professorship. Appointment to a full professorship requires a positive evaluation. The tenure evaluation procedure may only be commenced early (but not replaced) if a University W2 or W3 appointment is made in the second phase of the junior professorship.
