Data warehouse
We are the team behind the central Data Warehouse (DWH) and Master Data Management (MDM). What exactly do we do?
You can think of the DWH as a huge, well-organized data library. This is where we collect and organize important data from different sources so that they are easy to access and understand. Whether reports, analyses, or statistics, we ensure that the University stores reliable and quality-assured data.
The MDM is to data management what a foundation is to a building: it provides a solid basis upon which to build everything else. It is where we store fundamental data vital to many processes and systems within the University, for example, organizational units within the University’s overall organizational structure.
Overview of our main duties:
- data integration: connecting data sources for automatic exchange of data via hubs
- data modeling: consolidating data, filling data banks, documenting history of changes
- data processing: converting data, calculating values and key figures
- providing data: providing reports, evaluations, data cubes, and statistics
- data-quality assurance— reviewing data integrity and correcting errors
- technical operations in cooperation with the University’s Regional Computing Center (RRZ)
What do we offer specifically?
- reports for official requests or statutes
- reports and evaluations for specific requirements
- quality reports to identify errors in IT systems
- automated data transfers for internal University IT systems via specified hubs
