SAP SRM (Supplier Relationship Management) is a web-based solution which allows a requirement to be requested (e.g., by researchers, front offices, secretariats etc.) using an electronic purchase requisition to formulate the request and map the approval process. Web-based requests (shopping carts) have replaced the paper-based purchase order requests previously sent to the purchasing departments via in-house mail, email, or fax.
Using the SAP SRM system offers the following advantages:
- request and approval of requisitions for academia and administration regardless of location
- direct sourcing of items from framework agreements, linked external catalogs as well as freely defined requisitions (special requirements)
- earmarking of funds (from approval date)
- ability to track order status at any time
