2. Types of cooperation and establishing them

In international cooperation, we distinguish very generally between formal and nonformal cooperations. 

Against the background of the right to academic freedom, researchers are free to choose their cooperation partners and to engage in nonformal cooperation. However, we recommend formalizing cooperation in order to define the framework conditions for both sides, especially if the cooperation is intended to run for the long term.
