Occupational accidents
If you are a pay scale employee and have been unfit to work for more than three days due to an accident on your way from home to work or in the course of work, an accident report must be completed without delay.
Civil servants injured in an occupational accident are eligible for benefits provided under the accident insurance scheme in accordance with the Hamburg act on provisions for civil servants (Hamburgisches Beamtenversorgungsgesetz, HmbBeamtVG). Occupational accidents are unexpected, sudden events, arising out of, or in the course of work, on the way to work or back. Characteristics are physical injuries caused by external factors, and a determinable date and place.
The responsibility of identifying occupational accidents covered by accident insurance usually lies with the Human Resources Department.
