Working remotely at Universität Hamburg
Universität Hamburg aims to facilitate modern approaches to professional collaboration. We value flexibility with regard to where and when you work and trusting, meaningful collaboration that meets the job requirements.
Universität Hamburg offers its staff the chance to work remotely, providing them with the flexibility to work where they choose.
What does remote working mean?
- You work with a portable device at a place of your choosing. This means that you do not have a fixed workspace at home that has been set up by your employer.
- You can work remotely for up to 60 percent of your total monthly working hours. At least 40 percent of your monthly working time must be conducted in person.
- An exception is short-term remote working. In acute situations (temporary care obligations, especially for health or work reasons), you can perform 100 percent of your working hours remotely in consultation with your supervisor.
- See the FAQ for more information.
Do I have to submit a request to work remotely?
- No. You can arrange to work remotely directly and informally with your supervisor.
- This does not require a written agreement; however, if necessary or desired, you can document the agreement using this remote-working agreement form (PDF, accessible for disabled individuals). The agreement can be altered at any time.
- Observe the workplace requirements and Universität Hamburg data protection regulations when working remotely. Find an overview of workplace requirements in the risk assessment form for working remotely (DOCX).
