Advice on individual legal questions concerning studies, teaching, doctoral, and postdoctoral procedures

The Quality Management and Legal Affairs Section provides advice on individual legal issues relating to studies and teaching, including doctoral and postdoctoral procedures. We offer information about the following topics, in particular:

• examination laws
• interpretation of relevant regulations laid down in the Hamburg higher education act (Hamburgisches Hochschulgesetz, HmbHG) and the higher education admissions act (Gesetz über die Zulassung zum Hochschulstudium in Hamburg, HZG)
• interpretation of examination regulations, bylaws on special admission requirements, bylaws on selection procedures and criteria, doctoral and postdoctoral regulations, the bylaws of Universität Hamburg for University admission, and the enrollment regulations
• students’ accident insurance
