Appeals committees
The Hamburg higher education act (Hamburgisches Hochschulgesetz, HmbHG) requires institutions of higher education to appoint an appeals committee to decide on appeals concerning examinations. This Examination Appeals Committee consists of
- an administrator who is qualified for judicial office, is appointed by the Executive University Board, and heads the committee; and
- a professor and a student from the subject area of the examination. A subject area comprises degree programs that focus on the same academic fields.
The head of the Examination Appeals Committee is appointed according to faculty.
