Digital Transformation
As well as being one of Germany’s largest universities and one of its most productive research institutions, Universität Hamburg (UHH)—a University of Excellence with around 44,000 students—is a modern knowledge organization producing a wealth of research, teaching and education. Today, this knowledge is primarily stored in digital formats, and digital tools are used to process it and pass it on.
But there is much more to digitalization than the digital representation of information and its processing through digital methods: as part of a synergetic interaction of analog and digital media, digitality has long been an inherent component of studies, research, teaching, learning, living, and working at Universität Hamburg.
Twin Transformation
In connection with the new strategic university guidelines on twin transformation, the topics of digitalization and sustainability have been given strategic importance for university development. The chief digital officer (CDO) and chief sustainability officer (CSO), who have been members of the Extended Executive University Board since the end of 2022, will coordinate the University’s further development in these areas.
