Project eZeit / Documenting Time Electronically

Increasing flexibility with regard to individual working hours and new statutes for documenting these times, especially Section 3 subsection 2 number 1 of the Safety and Health at Work Act (Arbeitsschutzgesetz, ArbSchG), require a new, modern system for documenting hours at Universität Hamburg.

The eZeit system will be replacing current tools—the paper time card and the Excel time card. To this end, a project began in January 2024 to prepare for the introduction and implementation of this system. The first task will be to create and agree upon a timetable and measures for the conversion to eZeit.

The primary goal is to substantially reduce the manual effort, for example, for vacation requests, requests for time off, requests to reduce hours / have a regular day off, etc. Furthermore, we want to increase the quality, availability, and transparency of working-time data.
